3 Steps to Faster Browsing, OpenID, Plugins, RSS

As a regular user of the intertubes I am always looking for ways to make my web browsing a quicker and simpler experience. Here are a couple tips I have come up with…

1. Get an OpenID. True, not all sites support it, but for the ones that do using your OpenID to login is a quick and easy process. If you do not have an OpenID check out myVidoop.com, it uses an image grid to create a secure password free login experience. Hear this technology explained by our own Mitchell Savage.

2. Use a password manager, tired of remembering a bunch of passwords, or worse using the same one? A good password manager for non-OpenID logins/passwords can save you time and increase your security.

It just so happens that Vidoop actually offers a Password safe plugin that ties in to your myVidoop OpenID account. The plugin is easy to install (works for FireFox and IE) and allows a member to save and manage all of their standard logins/passwords from within their myVidoop account. Imagine having your password securely entered on each of your favorite sites and never having to wait for password reset instructions to be sent via plain text in email again.

If interested we have an excellent video showing the plugin in action:

3. Get comfortable with a good RSS reader, such as Bloglines, Google Reader, whatever. It is much easier to digest a large amount of news in a short amount of time with a proper set of RSS feeds, and reader setup. The person who turned me on to the beauty of RSS is Marshall Kirkpatrick and he has a recent post about RSS and Business that is certainly worth a read.

You can subscribe to the Vidoop blog by pasting this url in any reader: http://feeds.feedburner.com/vidoop

Thats it, hope this helps, comments are always welcome!
